Engineering Technician

The Engineering technician will work as part of a team alongside engineers and technologists. They will support the daily production needs by trouble shooting, problem solving, critical thinking and improving the processes with a Lean Manufacturing approach.  The day-to-day tasks revolve around performing tests, collecting data, assembling equipment, and recording performance. The Engineering technician will be expected to support production needs by quarantining non-conforming parts, evaluating assembly trends, and implementing solutions to improve processes. Candidate is a motivated self-starter who can think outside the box.

Preferred Skill Set:

  • Ability to trouble shoot problems and create guides and flow charts for future reference.
  • Ability to work with various ranges of staff (management, office, warehouse and production).
  • Good listening skills to evaluate and address production needs for tooling request.
  • Understands how to create and maintain pictorial/instructional guides.
  • Experience with documentation of tools and parts (part numbers) needed to build process a plus.
  • Experience with detailed record keeping and documentation process that supports Engineering and Manufacturing process. For example, NCR (Non-conforming report) RMA (Return Material Authorization) and ECN (Engineering Change Notice). 
  • Understanding of process improvements as it relates to Manufacturing Production.
  • Background or experience with Inventory Control a plus. 
  • Fabrication skills such as creation of tooling, building process aids and assembly of parts for production using hand tools, power tools, or machinery is desirable.
  • Understanding of ISO/AS9100 processes and the development of work instructions in a Lean Manufacturing context is desirable.
